Contradictions Poem by Christine Fields

Contradictions

My smile contradicts my sentiments
My laughter just buys me time

My words contradict my emotions
My lies just buy me time

My actions contradict my heart
But ignoring it buys me time

You tell me to talk...I'll pass
You tell me to share...I'll refuse
You tell me to believe...I'll decline
You tell me to lie...that I can do

I contradict your expectations
Your expectations contradict mine

I need to figure out me
Until then, I'll just buy myself some time
