Control Freak Poem by Chris Broast

Control Freak

I
Step
One foot
In front of the other
I try not to miss the next one
It's rough, I think too much about this
Writing that gives me re-lease, I play with the words
I want to allow myself to be set free just like the beautiful birds
If I just let go,
and give in to the beat,
I seem to move flawlessly,
my wing's spread wide
I want to keep on going like this, I never want to stop floating
Then emotion within, the heedless emotion reels on
I cannot find the rhythm again, I try to
I think that is my barrier I know
That I must put one
One foot
Step
I
