Cornered Poem by Erin Dawn Deneys

Cornered

I can feel the falling.
I can feel the dip.
I can feel the pressure, turning in my head.
I can feel the tingle.
It wrappes around my spine.
I can hear you in the dark.
Hear you not make a sound.
Deeper in the corner.
I press against the night.
Hoping you'll never reach the door.
Hoping you'll fall to the floor.
So I press deeper still.
Against the blackened wall.
Yet out there.
You lap the air.
And give a drunken leer.
While my hearts an empty echo.
In an empty room.
One that isn't seen.
One that doesn't loom.
One whose doors open wide.
Unlocking the screams and cries.
Please, corners, save my life.
Hide me in the night.
Cover me in nightmares.
You use to scare my kids.
And help me find some rest tonight, in ur shaded bed.
