Corporate Boards And Lessons
The Board Members never did realise
The effort and patience that went into
Keeping the dying embers of ambition alive
When they closed all the business doors and
Barely left half a window open with slow decisions
And a tepid interest in the welfare of the stakeholders
Fresh air and ideas were soon in very short supply
Almost everyone was gasping for breath
The place was also slowly getting infested with
Negative creepy crawlies who began to occupy
Every available vacant space with intentions
To devour the minds of the more healthy staff
A fog of lifelessness and inertia covered the area
The usual heated internal debates among staff
Became less audible as the lone loud voices
Were seemingly stifled by vested interests
Despair took the place of hope and enthusiasm
It was only when a neighbouring business
Declared bankruptcy and went into liquidation
That the Board finally awakened and began
Moving away from its complacent stand
Admitting grudgingly that they still had a team
Who with the right dose of encouragement
Would seize new opportunities and produce results
Fortunately, this time the board did not fall prey to
The too little too late syndrome
Instead they opened the doors wider and
Let the fresh air in giving one and all
Adequate time to adjust to the new climate
Revive the company and its bottom line
Moral of the story – It is not always that
A competitor goes bankrupt at the right time!
Interesting take on the corporate world. (glad I've avoided it so far, lol)
It feels that many of us hear this too late...when the damage has already happened...very well thought out piece Sandra my friend....one I know will relate to.....Leaves alot for the reader to reflect on..with the happenings of the corp world.....Brilliant 10+++

This verse is a very close call Its here, the staff learns to build walls and dams Ideas flow lke slashing water... all finally to get stopped Dams do help irrigation but here the ideas gets dried up In the chamber of heat within. There vast difference in how the management perseive How the staff try to contribute. Somewhere the cushion calls Boss Staff sits on the thron bed awaiting the extinction In spite of being able to nurture the company with his might. This is a good topic for the day to me. Thank you dear poet.

Having attended board meetings, I would say you present a true and detailed account and assessment. I like these combinations: dying embers of ambition Negative creepy crawlies A fog of lifelessness and inertia
complacent stand reverted because....a competitor went sick..decision seems a reaction. and that's what the corporate and political organizations seem to be doing...reacting...a successful product everybody want to market...so everybody falls flat when the product fails...no originality what so ever...your trade mark poem sandra..... 'fresh air and ideas were very soon in short supply almost everyone was gasping for breath' these lines...when the door was closed and just a small opening with slow decision making ....a lovely two level thought....actually the staffs were feeling low...lovely poem

Lessons learnt all round eventually Sandra - this is an excellent summary of what can happen when Boards etc cease to take notice of the 'lone voice' - - so sad that at times the awakening comes too late, .... a fine verse - - 10 + + + Fay
