Cough Medicine

She saw me shoplifting cough medicine
how have you been?
she asked.
Okay I replied,
asked the same,
for the same response
same shopping cart contents
Have you been sick? with a gesture
she said.
Very. I replied with tobacco mouthful
but she doesn't
need it like I do.

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Young Love lies sleeping
In May-time of the year,
Among the lilies,
Lapped in the tender light:
White lambs come grazing,
White doves come building there:
