Couldn'T Save Her Poem by Joyce Chelmo

Couldn'T Save Her

Rating: 5.0

There's a pain I live with
that's gently wrapped
itself around my heart
woven into every fiber of my being.
Hasn't destroyed me,
but has forever changed me.
Though not many would understand,
this pain is very much
a part of who I am.

Found a card I'd given her
in the middle of her bed.
In it a note I'd written
'someday I hope you find peace'.

When we were little
I took careful care of her.
Tending to her whenever
she needed me.
Protecting her from every
enemy I knew of,
but I couldn't save my
little sister from herself.

I lost a young friend this way; I can't imagine losing a sister like this - the grief is so rough. Thank you for a brave write, a comfort to any who blame themselves.

A great poem hurts or heals each time you read it. A truly great poem hurts and heals each time you read it. Thank you for a truly great poem. Beau

Take no heed of those that say do not cry, for this is all part of the healing process, This write is so sad and I really do understand it's message and it's sentiments, Who-ever has been affected by this, I hope that they can move on in a gentle and constructive way, love Duncan
