Couplings Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Couplings

Rating: 2.7

All life seems a coupling
two by twos
from Noah's ark
to romancing;

triangles we understand
can intrude-
break couples apart
who reconcile
in the long while;
or not.

But in growing up
all this can be confusing.
How to raise a family
if the married two
cannot handle child
who makes three and a triangle real?

And we know some people cannot
handle triangles;
in three
someone is always left out
since most can only handle two;
three ends in jealousy.

So lonely is one
of the three
bound to be?

Mostly.
