Creation Poem Poem by Derrick Andrews

Creation Poem

On a steep hill, amidst the vast, green pasture,
A nomad trods along the peak that will soon bear his name,
Upon hearing a strange noise he begins to walk faster,
For it was for him, at last, that Old Scratch had came,
The Earth shook and rumbled, boulders sprouted in his path,
Jagged spikes jutted forth, piercing the skies,
The Devil groaned and grumbled, then unleashed his rath,
Souls of the departed rose from the soil, the nomad covers his eyes,
The ghouls seized him and held him, pinned to the ground,
And stretched his face, so that his eyelids were apart,
Then Old Grim appeared suddenly, making not a sound,
But instead of using his scythe, he rose a spike through his heart,
The traveller cried out in pain and unmentionable sorrow,
Then Lucifer laughed maniacly, and roared the wanderer's name,
'We've come for you, infamous 'Kill-a-Man'Jarro! '
'Known world-wide for your murders, killing all people the same.'
And the rocks and spikes erupted forth, overlapping the soil,
While the body of Jarro turned from grey to brown,
His evil deeds led him to his eternal, hell-bound toil,
And his body and soul fell into the earth, straight down,
He had killed many a man, and woman alike,
Even children, his eyes discriminated not,
His weapon of choice, a long, stone spike,
He'd been chased out of many towns, by a chivalrous lot,
But now his actions have come to haunt him,
His grave, large and cold, as he was during life,
And so a mountain sprang forth, personifying his sins,
Every jagged rock, representing a kill he made throughout life,
Its retained his name, and still holds his evil body,
Resonating with malice, few have managed to scale it,
The few that have, perchance have felt his aura, but told nobody,
Perhaps even met Satan, as he sharpens the spikes,
One must be truely wicked to live atop Mt. Kilimanjaro,
But the Prince of Darkness' rent is a costly price,
It's not just some trivial item that you can purchase or borrow,
For a bargain with the Angel of the Bottomless Pit, is a bet for your life..
