Crescent Moon Poem by Gita Ashok

Crescent Moon

Rating: 4.5

Late in the evening
as a cool breeze blew,
the fronds
of the coconut palms
trembled in glee.

A million ripples
formed in the lake
that was stirred
by a slight drizzle -
a Heaven-sent gift
on a warm summer day.

I stood near the lake -
watching the lively ripples
and listening to
the melody
of the falling rain.
And then I saw
the reflection...

The reflection
of the crescent moon.
How beautiful!
How enchanting!
And what a sublime sight!
The crescent moon's reflection
was lovelier than the crescent moon
and for a moment, time stood still...
