Cutlery & Autonery(For The Great Robbie Auton) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Cutlery & Autonery(For The Great Robbie Auton)

CUTLERY & AUTONERY(for the great Robbie Auton)

The knives and forks
have taken themselves

out of their top drawer
scattered themselves

across the floor
making like they are Ivor Cutler.

They have me in stitches
in my kitchen.

I leave the dirty dishes
unwashed & just...laugh!

The pots & pans
are in rattling good form

outdoing the cultery
with their best Robbie Auton.

Nothing gets done
it's all such good fun

just like at Bang
Said the Gun.

I have a very poetical
kitchen.

********

Two of my all time favourite poets...the late great Mr. Cutler and the greatest and gracious Mr. Auton. BANG SAID THE GUN is my favouite London poetry gig...so full of fun and delight...half music hall...half poetry night. Every Thursday...come and enjoy!
