Cycling Poem by Clare Mefferd

Cycling

Some will never understand
Until you look through the eyes of strife
Even though God has everything planned
Not all is ever good in life

People say it will get better
These words are sometimes lies
Your face only gets wetter
Hunger, pain, children's cries

The world is tough, the world is cruel
Every day - a little more she dies
Especially when you don't follow his rule
Rape, abuse, mothers cries

As you get older it's not easy
Life lived with regret and sighs
Just the thought of it makes you queasy
Sick, weak, elders' cries

Your time has come
You will be with him soon
All the pain - it's finally numb
Prayers, hugs, families cries
