Daddy's Little Girl Poem by Rowence Mateo

Daddy's Little Girl

As I sit here and reflect
I can never forget
your sacrifice, blood sweat
And tears
All the years you spent overseas
Grinding your gears
Sending us souvenirs
Working hard everyday for your family
And dad, I definitely see
From the nights I spent in my crib
To the present days I live
I'm indebted to you, you gave everything to me
Really! All you ever did for us was give

And when you'd come home
You reclaim your throne
Teaching us, filling our domes, helping us to grow a strong backbone
I thank you dad for helping us grow
For always reminding me I'm never alone

That I'll always be daddy's little girl
That you'll always be there for me in this cruel
world, that you'll never let me fall
You taught me to stand tall
After all that I put you through
You continue to view me as princess of your ball

Dad, I love to reminisce
How your presence made my sadness dehise, giving me the present of true bliss
When I'd catch that glimpse
Of you coming home Clothed in camouflage,
I remember little me following you Into the garage
To work on cars,
Building more moments to add to my life story collage, adding more chapters to my memoirs

You also taught me how to cook
How to be creative without recipes from a book
You showed me to be me, not be
Molded from a cookie cutter
To use my real butter
And bake goods that taste like no other
And this I say, father
I will always remember
I will always treasure
What you did is immeasurable
The impact on my life is absolutely substantial
I love you dad and I'm forever grateful

So today
I want to say Happy Father's Day
Although you deserve more recognition than just one holiday
Because you prove yourself to be the best dad to me everyday.
