Daddy’s Little Spark

From Father to Daughter, all my love I’m so fond
Heart filled compassion even without nine months to bond
Holding you amazed at how something so small
Answers the question, if there’s purpose at all?

Hours I can sit and watch you sleep,
In moms arms, or in mine, wondering what you dream
There’s turmoil and noise in this world you were born
You hardly fit in you’re a rose among thorns

Your face is so sweet thought I’d never love another,
A love that I have for only you and your mother
I want to protect you and keep you from harm
Keep you from danger and guys that will charm.

But for now that I must take each day at a time
Some day you will grow up and move on just fine
If we raise you to know goodness, and to stand on your own
And know our love never fades, you’re never alone

I dunno if there’s a God, can he really exist?
Sending little packages to parents like this
It’s been hard to believe in the past life has been dark
Until YOU came along …Daddy’s little spark!

Whate'er we leave to God, God does,
And blesses us;
The work we choose should be our own,
God leaves alone.
