Dangerous Dance Poem by Shaye Michaelson

Dangerous Dance

Rating: 2.2

Please…
Don't invite me to dance…
Don't bring those beautiful
hands too near
to settle on my waist…
I fear
those delicate lips
beneath my ear…
Please…
don't invite yourself within
my personal space…
I'd be naked in that
soft embrace,
but for the melody
which cloaks my skin…
and the gentle pounding
of drums deep within:
Life's rhythm metering out
the seconds of a dance
which, I now know,
may never begin…
