Dangerous Liaison Poem by Alfred Ramos

Dangerous Liaison

I look at your picture I keep under the bed
And it’s hard to see with my eyes all red
I don’t know why I keep it there year after year
It’s there among the empty bottles of beer
Like water I let you run through my fingers
And the pain inside of me still lingers
Don’t know why I still keep it buried there
When I can’t sleep through this haunting nightmare
I know I’m chasing a dream that can’t come true
And it’s all because of you
There used to be a suitcase under the bed
But it walked away with all my dreams instead
In a flash all our possessions fled
Like a storybook ending that hasn’t been read
Every now and then I pull the picture out
To remind me what a nightmare is all about
Yeah it’s got stains and creases
But it’s me that’s gone to pieces
I’m not able to take it to another level
It’s impossible when you’ve slept with the devil
