Dark Sunset Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

Dark Sunset

Fists pounding the broken glass
Tiny shards draw crimson blood
I insist on contorting my heart
Rendering a painful existence
Such a meaningful first bloom
I wish it held value in my eyes
Blankly staring ahead
Enduring emotional rape
My eyes speak volumes
Painted lies and hate
Convoluted glass
Stricken with resentment
Blindfolded, I walk
Loosely holding your hand
Stormy seas rush within
Read my book
My eyes so true
Reveal a painting
Drawing tears to you
One escaped scream
And I’m gone
Riding a broken dream
Into the dark sunset
