Dark Thoughts Of Night Poem by David Harris

Dark Thoughts Of Night

As night devours the daylight
sleep arrests each weary head
as into the gloom of darkness
where our unconsciousness succumbs
to our visions of monsters
and other unimaginable things.

Incarcerated in sleeps dark prison
we are tormented by unworldly things
until the daylight forces back the evils
that swarm in our head.
The sun warms us from the cold darkness
that has captivated our mind.

Breathing in the fresh new day
the thoughts of our night dreams
disappear from our mind.
We greet the day with no anticipations
carrying on with our normal lives.
Not thinking of how we might succumb again
to the dark thoughts of night.
