Darling Summer Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Darling Summer

Summer forgot to say 'farewell'
she is on vacation, I can tell...
winter is standing in once more
with gusty winds across the shore.

She comes and goes as is her right
Mr Sun travels with her ~ that's alright,
because tomorrow on the noonday train,
darling summer will be ours again.

Life is dark when she's not here
but a first-class ticket calms our fear
glowing warmth will comfort each bone
when darling summer comes back home.
