Dawn To Dusk Poem by Mahlubandile Phillips

Dawn To Dusk

I cry at night
Under the stars
Nowhere to be found

Don't leave me
Tears have no peace
How can I sleep
I'm pleading your heart
Do you feel it, this prime
Only both of us know and those who witnessed
the sadness we spread

Night address memories we've spent
especially on weekends
Each day the night's a hell
regret souring tears

You're leaving me in this galaxy, too
hard to breathe
intoxicating in my own demise

Dawn to dusk two sides to a strory
Well, this is pain
I was too ashamed, sentences unfinished words
not there
Blank spaces tracing how we became
a fairytale no happy ever after

Dawn to dusk I lay my arms around cold
alone in this road
Books keep me company holding this secret
I'm drowning left in solitude
I can't wait to see you again, just to pretend
these nights never arrive.
