Daybreak Poem by Speedy Hartman

Daybreak

Rating: 4.0

By; John “ Speedy “ Hartman

morning started
with a burst of cool air
as if you stood
in front of an open frig
as the new born morning
grew into day
moisten dew slowly
turned to a misty haze
flowers that readily
stood so tall at night
now turn their
pastel faces to the light

the sun begins to peak
from under the clouds
like a happy face
on a child’s tee-shirt
then rays of warming heat
slowly cover your face
just enough to
make you squint nothing more
now you know and I
know this is the start
of a new beginning
a new chance at life

so made it a point
each morning when you can
to rise and shine
catch each morning with a smile
make yourself a wish
for today it may happen
if nothing else
you’ll get to see
a new baby day being born
