Days Go By Poem by Paul Jonathan Stertz

Days Go By

Rating: 5.0

Time goes by slowly for me in my room
Out on the window ledge, spring flowers bloom.

I cannot see them, try as I may
Here where I hide, it's dark and gray.

Days go by slowly here in my room,
Memories haunt me from out of the gloom.

Remind me of days that were better than now
I would have you back, but I wouldn't know how.

You were the reason-some days ago,
I slipped into darkness, now all that I know.

I do not resent you, you must understand,
Though you slipped through my fingers like grains of sand.

I would have those days back, when you were with me,
When days went by quickly, happy and free.

Time went too quickly, it's over and done,
Love was a shadow, gone with the sun.

Days will I spend here, and hide the sun's rays,
I'll long after you for the rest of my days.

what a sad lonely poem. The loss is felt in every word. Great read
