Days Of Our Lives Poem by A.J. Jaskowiak

Days Of Our Lives

Rating: 2.7

Another song has been sung
The last note has been played
Another tear has fallen
Walking slowly off the stage
And as you walked out the back door
You stared deeply through the night
Even though tonight seems darker
The stars are just as bright
And like sand through an hourglass
These are the days of our lives

Another playground battle
The last punch has been swung
More of your pride is broken
Your shirt is stained with blood
And as you walked away
Telling yourself that you wouldn't cry
You tell your friends you feel fine
But they can see it in your eyes
And like sand through an hourglass
These are the days of our lives

And like the image of a broken dream
Another sun sets deep beneath the sea
And as the shooting star fires away
The clock just ticks the time away
Another handful of nightmares
Another ship sinks in the sea of tears
Another memory has turned to dust
Another moment of life has been lost
Another grain of sand falls on our lives
Yes these are the days of our lives

Another lonely night
But it seems like this is the best day of your life
Another day you get older
As your beauty is stolen away from time
Another clock is ticking
As you walk on this narrow line
Another sun goes down
But it has never felt so good to be alive
And like sand through an hourglass
These are the days of our lives

And as I take the knife out my back
My foot out my mouth
I've stopped talking the things I don't know about
Spit my pride back up
Take the world off my back
I've stopped writing checks my backside can't cash
And as I stand on my own two feet
Now I can see
The rotten apple doesn't fall far from the tree
As I hold on tight
On this roller coaster ride
I can finally realize
That like sand through an hourglass
These are the days of our lives
