Dead Ends Poem by Chris Newlash

Dead Ends

So many times I've tried to run,
Just ending back where I begun.
I thought that I could've run forever,
Thought that I'd be some place better.

And all those times I was proven wrong,
Just ending back, these paths so long,
Right at the front of these dead ends,
Without emotion, without friends.

Now I'm without all I learned.
Rebuilding every bridge I burned.
Trying hard to let things go,
And being better as I grow.

So here I am, back at step one,
Nothing close to being done,
And though I fell so long ago,
I know I still have to let things go.

So many times I've tried to run,
Just ending back where I begun.
Yeah yeah yeah, I know I know,
But it's so hard to let things go.
