Dead Mans Hill

She tied a red ribbon in her hair
And headed out the front gate,
She was only 18 but she was so damn pretty
And looked older for her age,
She went west to her boyfriends house
Just to stay the night,
She didnt know he was to propose to her
And she didnt know she was gonna die,
She never wished harm on anyone
She was as nicest thing youve ever seen,
When a stranger asked for a ride
She kindly obliged.
It was 9 pm when he got into
Her 85' Bonneville,
They found it at 7 am
Soaked in blood on Dead Mans Hill,
Her boyfriend stayed awake in the candle light
And watched them all burn out,
Hoping everything was o.k
And then he went to town,
December 31st is when they found her body
Covered with leaves out in the woods,
Her parents and boyfriend fell down crying
And no one understood,
How the kindness of strangers could be abused
By people who are cold and mean,
To him she meant nothing
But to them she was everything,
They let loose the hounds on the track of the man
And found him covered in blood by the creek,
He had evil eyes and a mad laugh
Wearing the necklace of Ann Maria.
This was all a long time ago
But some times you can see her car,
Old and abandoned and covered in blood
On Dead Mans Hill in the dark.
Oh sweet Ann Maria
Locked up in your dirt cell,
Oh sweet Ann Maria
Why did the devil drag you to hell?
She tied a red ribbon in her hair
And got into her car,
Sweet Ann Maria found hell
Up on Dead Mans Hill,
Up on Dead Mans Hill.
