Death At The Vicarage Poem by Caitlin Moreby

Death At The Vicarage

Death at the Vicarage,
But no-one seems to know
How the body got there,
Police begin to show.

Vicar, he's been murdered
Knife right through his heart.
I wonder how it got there
Who played the other part.

The vicar he'd been told things
While in confession box.
Like how Becky Stamp was beaten
By evil Farmer Knox.

But it wasn't him, see
He's been out of town.
No other suspects spring to mind,
Policemen start to frown.

What about Darran Hardy?
He always looked the sort,
Staying in and reading
Instead of playing sports.

Darran's been found guilty!
I told you he was strange.
Well at least he's locked up
And can't do harm again.

No-one cared about the motive,
Or that there wasn't one.
As Darran Hardy all along
Had been the innocent one.

Yes he stabbed the vicar,
A deadly serious sin.
But no one ever thought to ask,
What the vicar did to him.
