Death Wish Poem by Iman Sadikeen

Death Wish

Every night, when creeps in sleep
And with it, a death wish enjoins
What is it to die, but leave all alive?
Well then, at ease I shall hereby be,
For who thither will I leave,
That shall grieve for departed me
Escape I shall, suffering at large
If death shall claim my life, still young
No charm or skill I adorn in me
In a world grading everything on range
At fault, I will be as ever with shame
Though try as best as I could for a name
Discarded and worthless in all
My maker shall have mercy in my form
my eyelids do shut, burdened with sleep
With a death wish awake in me!
