Death with honor

“Queen Padmini was like glass doll” legend says
The king was brave too and so called
They fought bravely against Mogul Emperor
As they were spreading kingdom with terror

One such General came to know about queen
He became restless and keen
It became his desire to have queen
He expressed desire for queen to be seen

He sent war ultimatum to king or surrender
The queen and other females prepared funeral pyre
It was their tradition to fight to last with the invaders
Where as female folks burnt live before they entered

The king was clever so he sent proposal
The queen will show face in mirror upon arrival
The general agreed to for the compromise
In turn he withdrew war threat and promised

He became speech after seeing queen
He decided to break the promise even
The queen was clever so he agreed to go
But proposed that she be carried by courtesans

The warriors in guise of courtesans accompanied
When they reached near general they all attacked
The general was killed along with soldiers
Thus the honor of queen was saved

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
