December Fourteenth

Why would someone kill a baby?
The end's hic et nunc maybe
I want to see a better future but my vision's hazy
Things are getting crazy
Campus casualties
A mother and father left cold
Now their child's deceased
And even though it wasn't me
I feel it
To send all your pride and joy to school
And someone steals it
Nothing compares
Look in my daughter's eyes
I'm lucky she's there
To feel the pain the parents felt and hell it's something to bare
But hey
I say I'll pray for you
Keep the faith
Promise you'll smile through all the heartache seen today
I know Sandy Hook was shaken but she'll find a way
Hey
It wasn't your fault another soul had ran astray
Dear God
Be with us

I

I AM not One who much or oft delight
To season my fireside with personal talk.--
Of friends, who live within an easy walk,
Or neighbours, daily, weekly, in my sight:
