Deception Poem by Ike Speer

Deception

The trust i desire
has long been forgotten
i have known
it shall never be met
by the offensive world
that surrounds me
i shall never know what it's like
having people believe
the words i speak
my soul entangled
in the unrelenting sadness
i had hoped you would forgive me
but i know the deceit
does not come
from my mouth alone
i know now
i must deceive
to be believed
lies sound truer than truth
i had wished
for a world
without deception
though i now acknowledge this world is built upon
a web of lies.
