Deception Of Letters Poem by Tosin Abegunde

Deception Of Letters

Arise, arose and arisen!
Songs of pride, so we reason
Statism of the only pragmatic.
Survey in the plants and Thick.
I passed through needle eye,
Even when dread draws nigh,
I landed on planet of honour,
Then, was puerile but a senior.
Now in solitude aloud, I pray,
'Aare Awon University Agbaye'
For a revival of the Goshenites
Meant to validate as Isrealites.
'Oh, our dear father in heaven,
When shall we see safe haven'

Against all odds, out i cry
Waiting for the tears to dry
Not by means of prize
But by the reason of a price
Many sees it as foolishness
Few sees it as faithfulness
Yet i'll not retire till desire
We admire, i so aquire:
Resoluteness it is called, unlike
Comradeship that sinks alike.
Only a dunce does not know
Farmer not pilots do need hoe
This, the myth of the hot land
Where i desire strict errand.

Legacies left behind lives on
Heritage tied down I count on
Just as a patriach of the light
Seeking to welfare as right.
No other foundation is laid
Except that which they raid.
You daughters of Zion, wake
In defence of what is at stake:
Your long preserved posterity
Cunningly eaten in dexterity
By the few and powerful
Who has taken you great fool.
Failure to rise now that it rain
Hegemony'll forbid your reign.

I can clearly hear him speak,
The unborn child like a squeak
Right in the veins and blood
That would later make flood
In the world of the lettered
Solemnly mended; scattered
Battered in stingy integrity,
And crowned as nonentity
Where men would so labour
When supposed to sow favour
Oh clustered shame,
That swallow our fame
I pray th' change desired come
Quickly come to be come!
