Deceptive Charm Poem by Kojo Owusu

Deceptive Charm

Rating: 5.0

I make my silent retreat
From your deceptive charm,
For now I have realized
That it was a bait after all.
And this murmuring stream
Meandering with serenity
Innocence – now I have
Realized that it can toss and turn;
It can churn and whirl the soul.
I make my silent retreat
Even though you entreat
Me to come saying
That it is not always fraught
With dangers and uncertainties
But decked with spells
I am unspelled
I am uncharmed
I make my silent retreat
From your deceptive charm.
