Defining Love Poem by RAJ NANDY

Defining Love

Some say that Love is only a hyped-up thing,
When the soft music plays in your head
all day;
It has been bonsaied and commercialized,
And sold out to all on Valentine’s Day!
Love, they say, has a short shelf-life,
With an illusion that it will forever last!
It motivates only to propagate the race,
For continuance of the species always comes
first!
And all its mysteries and fantasies, are only
a publicized false pretext!
For it only revolves around, those three little
words we call Sex!

Platonic Love unites the soul,
And is equated with love divine!
A God sent love to a chosen few,
Reputed to last through space and time!

But notwithstanding all these things,
Which you hear about Love often being said,
When lovers meet and hug and kiss,
They both get swept off their feet …
And while it lasts, it simply Feels Great!

different facets of love- really good observation here. once the monotony settles, it just flies out of the window. like any relatioship it needs to be nurtured, but other things take precedence. hm platonic love- can it really work. i somehow am sceptical. good poem Raj Mamta
