Definition Of Religion

I am confused about the meaning of religion
Since childhood I am exposed to this word however
As you know I am an Indian
Born In a Hindu Brahmin family
Where children are taught to win god's favor
Of late I think it is all so silly
Why to butter the Lord who is Almighty?
He or She who is all powerful knows me very well
As to whether I am performing my duty?
How far I am serious or sincere?
If am just than why fear?
At times the clouds in the sky trail
Where? I am unaware
All I know after a scorching day of sunshine
Dark clouds hover the sky
They don't last forever
They burst into rain
The waters pour down without any refrain
Again the sky become clear as a crystal
Where the white clouds dwell
Birds flap their wings and fly
On a paddy field the cowboy may lie
And play on his flute
Music pervades with the lyre and the lute
You may watch all these natural proceedings and ignore
You may become philosophical and soar
To feel connected to an unknown spirit who you never know
On your quest you rest not even in the snow
If you find the spirit and feel connected your face glow
Harsh winds may blow
But you are steady
With smile you are ready
To accept what lays your way
You get your answers before you lay
For your eternal rest
I therefore look up the sky to seek peace
Which in this world of materialism I miss
Let me pour my best
And be religious in my proceedings
The lord then would accept me with all the greetings.
