Degrees Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Degrees

Degrees

Like the milk from the cow,
From the goat or the sheep
In bottle, in pocket, plastic
The children end in school
They start as infant to ages

For degree
For degree
For degree

To get a job making the live
Some do so for name, fame
Some see it as way out
Academic

Michael though; as was Vidal
Standing; is proud, wide smile
“Many years in twelfth grade”
Then he adds “without college”
But hosted a panel; best expert

He is right a major, a master, PhD
It’s nothing but degree
They’re degrees
The degree
For a job
No value
Not at all

Knowledge is somewhere else
It’s in effort
And in love
Let’s go get
