Deliverance Poem by Steven Webster

Deliverance

Let's peer into the junkie
Hook a receiver to his brain
Not some feeble flop house flunky
Someone addicted to the pain
And it's such a long, long way
When you're looking for deliverance
It's such a long, long way
When everyone plays the fool

Said your body is a vessel
and Mama's vase is broken
But if you have no ghosts to wrestle
You surely buy into this joke
And it's such a long, long way
When you're looking for deliverance
It's such a long, long way
When everyone plays the fool

Hypersonic gin and tonic
Numbs the vapid and moronic
Sigmund Freud in alkaloid
Says to love yourself

Mule
