Dementia Poem by michele kostelnik

Dementia

Rating: 5.0

Is like a caged bird-
Be it canary, parakeet, parrot-
Freedom being the open door
to the cage-
Dangling, inches away, as a
proverbial carrot-
Ranting, raving, crying with
histrionics all night-
Should their scaly little feet
suddenly land in your hair
some midnight-
Would you shiver and shake-
tremble and quake-?
Or just give in, letting it get
into your skin-
Nothing can prevent ya-
From eternal dementia-

Was going to comment about your poem But somehow mind grew dim And all I could remember, not Something bout birds and a carrot. So please forgive for the moment As I search my brain for a comment And look into the hair on my balding scalp And see if one of your birds there taking a nap. s
