Denis Murphy Poem by Francis Duggan

Denis Murphy

As a young man Denis Murphy travelled far and wide
But he came home to grow old in his own countryside
In Claramore he was born and raised and in nearby Claraghatlea he did reside
In his home near the entrance to Tubrid Well until the day
he died.

Denis Murphy or Denny as most knew him by
A quietly spoken nice person he did seem slightly shy
As a worker he was one who was second to none
And in his long life he never harmed anyone.

He won many friends in his lengthy life span
And one can say of him he was a gentleman
Respect to his memory friends and family pay
To one who often to help out others went out of his way.

As a young man he left his home in Claramore
To live and to work far from old Ireland's shore
One can only hope from life he had a painless release
And may the remains of Denis Murphy ever rest in peace.
