Depression Poem by The Poet Darkling

Depression

Tried painting with words to relieve despair
But the canvas grew darker, stroke by stroke
My loneliness leaves me fighting for air
I fall into shadow, crumpled and broke

I feel my mind slipping, rhyme after rhyme
Tho' searching for ways to block madness out
Cries for help go unheard, time after time
As darkness shadows and swallows my shout

Muted and beaten, I shiver with fright
And the tears flow freely, wetting my cheek
Lonely and helpless, am too weak to fight
Soon give up searching for that which I seek

It's much too late now, the damage is done
I'm taunted by voices inside my head
My soul has been claimed, the darkness has won
I run to that place where angels fear tread

No chance for me to feel joy anymore
The Devil will win by chance or by cheat
Depression leaves my heart aching and sore
And makes my suicide bitter and sweet
