Depression Can Sometimes Be Just A Phase

They say I look distraught
Many reasons to look this way I've got
They say I look sad
Then I look mad
I guess my face is an open book
You can tell my emotion from my look
Yet I still constantly smile
Even though I haven't been happy in a while
My smile it caves down
As long as I can remember its looked like a frown
Sometimes I make you believe I'm the happiest being
Other times I worry my despair your seeing
I now like to hang by myself
It takes to much energy and effort to pretend I'm someone else
By that I mean the person I pretend to be
For I know for sure you don't like the real me
You barely even like me now
To my real self I could never bow
To be truthful the mirror and me I do so hate
I cant remember the last time I felt great
But I learn this is a phase
Myself I can now look in amaze
I smile nice and bright
When my fiends and family are in sight

Poem of the Day

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
Who'd toil'd, and seen no holiday,
For forty years from dawn to dark —
Alone beside Caermarthen Bay.
