Depression Feels Nice Poem by Daniel Fontaine

Depression Feels Nice

Rating: 5.0

Depression is a feeling stronger than any other
Like a mother's embrace, it feels best to be wrapped in it
Never to be partially depressed, but fully, so you may enjoy it
Depression is my happiness
And heartache is my one true friend
Without either, life would be meaningless
I love the sickening sensation that is depression
I love it like a mother loves her child
Because I know it will always be there for me

Depression always has your best interests at heart
Depression is The Mother
It understands that for you to overcome
You must let yourself be swallowed
Anything and anyone can cause depression
We become expert marksmen
When we strike the heart of those in complete happiness
With a bulls-eye the target falls, silently
For to talk about The Mother is to leave her

Maybe one day you'll be ready to spread your wings
And fly out of the nest
But not today my friend
For to try today will wind you up in a searing crash landing
Caught up in the moment, you may believe that today's the day
And for some it may be
But for you, my dear fellow, that is not an option
The Mother says that you are not ready
And Mother Knows Best...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My ex Kaia broke up with me a little while ago, but I am still not over her, and probably never will be. Every time I see her in the hallways, The Mother embraces me; although I act as if nothing is wrong. I wrote this for people who are in a similar situation, so they can know that someone else has felt the same way they have. It is possible the love being depressed, and it's okay as long as it is not taken to far. Never leave the Nest early...

Depression - the lose of sunshine in one's life well depicted in the poem. I commend your sense of humour under such trying and deplorable situation. A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned with insight. Thanks for sharing Daniel.

Thank you, Chinedu, for reading my poem and leaving such an artistic comment. I may be 15, but I've gone through more traumatic experiences than most; with being in DCF care for over 10 years,14 foster homes, and 2 group homes. Massive amounts of therapy have made me into the person I am today. Again, thank you. :)
