Despair Over Waves Of Terror Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Despair Over Waves Of Terror

I feel I vomit
When I hear terrorists
for an Islamic state
beheading prisoners
and selling children
and women as slaves.

For what is a world
when intolerance rules—
saying no to other faiths,
no to music and
no to innate freedom
as humans
but just be swallowed
by an ideology
of terror that seeks to rule
and dominate!

How can our world
be delivered from this
doom of savage hate
when these beasts
are also met
by violence and bullets?
