Destiny Plays Chess Poem by Mike Ski

Destiny Plays Chess

Rating: 5.0

I walk upon the clouds behind my eyes to see what lies beneath.
I fall into the realm of fire laying at my feet.
The steps I take move in rhythm to the beats of blood soaked villains.
Hello to you I say to thee and back to me they say you bleed.
I look unto my wrists and find a doorway that leads
Two eternal lives so I proceed.

A light shines into my mind but it I cannot see.
I'm on the other side now, they've tricked me.
Surrounding me they circle in hopes that they will feed.
On my flesh and bones, but it is my soul they need.
Fighting to the death is not far so I flee.

Shadow hopping I escape with nothing but my thoughts.
This can't be a dream. It can't be life.
Am I dead or is it all in my head?
Nude in my spirits I look back at those I had just fought.
My body mangled and torn, another page ripped from the whole.

I turn to a pair of stairs, narrow and clear.
It is up to me to climb and find the mystery that lies there.
Self elevation takes my higher, flying in line.
Dark heights flood my canals with fright.
Who are you, what are you?

Depictions of the future
Explanations of the past
Everything you encompass
Resolved into glass
You are the truth behind the world
The answer to coincidence
The curiosity to randomness
Destiny falls here in the grains of the sand

I no longer succumb to your hands
For I am conscious, hovering above your land.
