Destroyer Of The Night Poem by David Taylor

Destroyer Of The Night

Rating: 5.0

An act with no intent
no objective
nor desire of appearance
bereft of my conceit
that it should succeed
or my fatalism
of sureness it must fail.
An act so complete
that no fault is found
nor trace it leaves
as its act in action
strikes with all its might
destroyer of night.
What act is this
that of itself
would completion make
It is an act of grace;
that surrender
simply for surrender's sake.
