Devil's Tools Poem by Alex Koonthanam

Devil's Tools

The Head Devil his band summoned
Of his gang each and everyone;
From each he sternly demanded friend
Progress of tasks commanded.

Each one came onward and laid down
Files of persons he had down mown;
They were of sundry folds and factions
Felled through his villainous actions.

Thereafter each before the boss
Utilised utensils did toss;
The bigwig malignly does gloat
Over conquests his imps had wrought.

A sharp potent two edged weapon
Slowly takes and gazes upon,
'Blunt, but has not much victory,
What's it? ' 'Oh it's adultery! '

'Here lie slander and jealousy
But they melt before God's mercy;
So do gluttony and envy
And ev'n murder and idolatry! '

'Fatal venoms, I say, as lust
Before God's grace has not much thrust;
Even so ire, vengeance or greed
Evil wretchedly fail to feed! '

He goes through each item that they
His lessers before him did lay;
Various tools no matter how hard
They toiled but little effect had.

'Here lies one, tho of no value,
Well employed and all worn out through;
Where mighty miserably failed
This has glorious victory hailed! '

'Oh this's small but most effective
And does always great success give;
Having this failure none can scare!
It's the deadliest of all: it's DESPAIR! '

Dear buddies, no matter how steeped in
One can be in any lethal sin;
Never dare the steps of Judas
Casting yourself in eternal loss!

There on the Cross you can behold
What God's mercy has always told!
In Jesus' wide extended arms
You get God's soothing, healing balms!
