Diana The Huntress Poem by Stormy Haney

Diana The Huntress

Rating: 5.0

On the isle of Delos be born a child
for like her twin brother she be wild
for beasts and birds with tooth and claw
for hounds that bite and, snarl and gnaw
her wrath is ruthless but never depraved
her emotions are honest and never enslaved

Diana her name, meaning heaven divine
the moonlight her home. The bow is her sign
she runs in wild places with hounds by the side
The hunting of stag, she always takes pride
Her moon rules emotions of all womenfolk
her love is the country, her tree is the oak

She was always a maiden, a virgin for life
for men always caused her such hatred and strife
Protector of women, the young and the crone
Defender of children away and at home
she whispers to mothers to keep a firm hand
for children need safety in this fearful land
