Did You Notice Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Did You Notice

The sun was not out today...
Did you notice

How still the air was...no whisper
Of the wind.

Did you notice
The shades to my window
Were drawn

For no reason
Other than you were
Gone.

Did you notice
There were no flowers
In bloom

Or so it seemed
and
There were no stars
To wish upon at night fall.

No moon
Only the gloom of
My endless yearning

For your return...

Did you notice
But how could you...
Those dead...
Know
Nothing...

The Bible says!
