Dingy Boy Poem by Weldon Davis

Dingy Boy

Dingy boy
With your thoughts
Caught in the mud
Your character flawed
Stained you honor
No amount of soap
Can set ya right again

It's night again
In your heart
Awaiting the dawn
Never to be

Jaded
You curse good girls
Call em all harlots
After ya riches
Hexed and vexed
Burn em at the stake
Like the witches
Of Salem

A dust storm
Across a laundry line
A atta boy! !
That'll do fine
A scream
A holler
Followed by denial after denial
Thinking the world is ya toy

Dingy boy
With your pants sagg'n
Hat tilted to the side
No purpose for your service
So ya ride
The bus from stop to stop
And ya lift ya gifts from shop to shop
Only to eat
Ya claim
Ya bang
Ya head against the wall
Try'n to succeed

Ya sell ya soul to lesser things
Ideas
Ya never conceived
To be concrete

Ya walk across the street
Of broken promises
Never to return
Ya got a lot a knowledge at college
Yet
Ya didn't learn ____
Ya think it's all about you
And the world is ya toy
HaHaHa
The jokes on you
Dingy boy
