Diplomacy Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Diplomacy

Rating: 5.0

Finesse, delicacy and savoir-faire
Is the name of John Kerry
And them he carries along
With his itinerary charted much ere
Around the world around the globe
On missions known to him fairly
Be it politics or business
He knows how to best extract the essence

Not long ago CM Modi was
Banned from visiting the US
Now PM Modi is cajoled with reverence
Mr Kerry flatters
And Mr Modi falters
When issues like reforms and liberalization
In trade and investment come up closer

And it amuses to see
Mr Kerry going many steps further
While smacking his lips
Over Indo-US relation
As hanging on the cusp
Of a historic transformation
And US stood behind India
Always to see it rise to super power

Oh, how much dreams you wish to sell
To see your business soar
Whenever you come, Mr Kerry
You come with curry
Sweet or sour
India devours hungrily
In the past such discourses proved rhetoric
And India under your spell
Bound to run after your gimmick
Though sometimes names them
As contrasted things
And stammers let us see
And what else we can say but diplomacy…….

This is a wonderful poem Deepak, so timely in the wake of Kerry's visit to New Delhi! Everybody knows business is business and the only purpose of his visit is to persuade India to alter its policies on International trade. The intelligent team consisting of Modi, Jaitley and Sushma can see through the facade of friendship and properly weigh the pros and cons of the issue! I am not one interested in any politics.... but your poem has really appealed to me. Only Dinesh Nair used to come up with this kind of updates of international issues! Well done, Deepak! Top marks!
