Disciplines To Be Maintained, Said By Elders! Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

Disciplines To Be Maintained, Said By Elders!

A disciplined person who keeps up morality
…shouldn't take bath without wearing
one cloth at least, covering private parts!

(One shouldn't take naked bath,
but he should take bath by wearing a cloth in the waist)

He shouldn't take food by wearing a single cloth
…alone on his body in his waist!

(He should wear two cloths,
one each for covering lower part,
one for the upper part of the body!)

He shouldn’t squeeze his wet cloth,
…which he was wearing during bath,
into the water in the river!

(River is considered as Goddess, should be respected)

He shouldn’t enter into the assembly
…of learned persons by wearing one cloth!

(It is considered as disrespect to come
…by wearing one cloth alone in his waist,
should also wear a dress covering his bare chest)

These are the disciplines to be maintained, said by elders!
