Disillusion Poem by Kel Smith

Disillusion

goodbye wasn't enough.
it didn't stop.
there was no escape
held captive by your embrace.
torn. disoriented.

trusting as child
waiting on a promise
fruitlessly delivered.
hope restored then crushed,
left hanging in the dark.

blinded by thought.
false pretenses, these ideas.
a race that never ends.
comfort found in anguish.
disillusion in every step.
